The licence question, answered straight.
The short version: to ride legally in Bali as a visitor you need a valid motorcycle licence from your home country plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) that covers motorcycles — Category A. Indonesian residents use a local SIM C instead.
We check your licence before handing over a bike, every time. Not because we enjoy paperwork, but because riding unlicensed voids insurance cover generally, exposes you at police stops, and can void travel insurance for any accident — the expensive kind of shortcut.

Getting an IDP
IDPs are issued in your home country, usually by the national automobile association (AAA, AA, ADAC, and equivalents), usually same-day and cheap. They cannot be legitimately issued once you're already in Indonesia — arrange it before you fly. If your licence situation is unusual, message us before booking and we'll tell you honestly whether we can rent to you.
