The Kintamani run. Earn the view.
This is the ride people move to Ubud for: an hour north, 750 metres of climbing, ending on the rim of a volcanic caldera with Mount Batur and its lake below you. Every warung on the rim sells the same view for the price of a coffee.
Bike choice matters here more than anywhere else we deliver. The sustained climb asks a lot of a 155cc engine, especially two-up — the ADV 160 handles it, the XMAX 250 enjoys it. Leave by 07:00: cool air on the climb through Tegalalang, clear views before the cloud builds mid-morning, lunch on the rim, and a gentle descent home before the afternoon rain window.

Route and rim notes
Ride north through Tegalalang (the terraces at 07:30 are worth the early alarm on their own), fuel at the Pertamina before the climb proper, and follow Jalan Raya Kintamani to the rim at Penelokan. It's genuinely 8–10 degrees cooler up there — the jacket isn't optional. The descent is long; ride it on engine braking and gentle pulls rather than dragging the brakes the whole way down. Our brake upgrades exist for this hill, but technique still beats hardware.
