Ride guide — Canggu → Ubud

Canggu to Ubud, the good way.

Google says 90 minutes. The direct route through Denpasar's edges is traffic and fumes — functional, forgettable. The better ride swings north through Mengwi and the back roads past Sangeh, adds twenty minutes, and replaces most of the traffic with paddies and temple walls.

Route notes

Leave early — the run out of Canggu is the worst of it. Fuel up before Mengwi, coffee in Sangeh if the monkeys allow, and arrive into Ubud from the north where the road drops through the terraces. Rain gear lives under your seat; use it, the afternoon build-up is real from November through March.

The XMAX makes the trip a cruise; the ADV makes the optional gravel detours a yes. The NMAX will do it fine — it just enjoys it less.
